The drainfield is in a state of failure and needs to be upgraded. We are proposing to install a new 1,250 gallon STEP tank and connect to an existing 40 foot long deep trench that was installed (but never used) to serve the neighboring property. The two lots had an easement that allowed for the neighboring property to install their septic system on Lot 3's property. However, when the neighboring lot decided to upgrade their septic system (in 2001) they did so without the approval of the owners of Lot 3. The neighboring lot had to disconnect and abandon in place the newly installed septic system and install another system on their own lot. In short, the existing 40 foot trench we are proposing to connect to is the trench that was abandoned in place that was originally installed to serve the neighboring property. The Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: We are unaware of any adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic systems.
