Huff Contracting Engineers & Associates 1801 Stanton Avenue Anchorage, Alaska Dear Mr. Huff: Subject: Anchora.ge - Williamson Subdivision, Water S.ystem. I am writing in regard to the plan and engineering report for the subject project, forwarded to this Department via Mr. Kyle Cherry of our Anchorage office. This proposal is further identified as "Addition 2" and will provide a well, well house, pump, and distribution sys'~em for some 19 residences. A feature of the system is an 82 gallon hydro-pneumatic storage tank in each residence served and to which we have no objection. All concerned should be aware that PV6 pipe is not as strong as metal and that consideration must be given in its installation for its 'large co- effluent of expansion and the greater care necessary to prevent any settlement. Also, note that schedule 40 PVC cannot be threaded as can schedule 80, and that thawing of PV6 is possible but with difficulty. We have but three requirements: There must be a grout seal on the well extending 12' below grade. a) b) c) We require a sketch of what is proposed for the well house. Compliance must be made with the State air pollution control regulations, a copy of which is enclosed. Should a chemical analysis of 'the water obtained show that treatment is necessary to comply with Public Health Service drinking water standards, then we will require details of the treatment including its position or placement in the well house. We will look forward to hearing further fre~l you regarding this project. · Enclosure ¢/ cc: Clifford F. Judkins Sincerely yours, Ri chard H. Britt Sanitary Engineer
