BOX 240773 ANCHORAGE, ALASKA 99524 May 3, 1995 Municipality of Anchorage Department of Heath & Human Services 825 "L" Street Anchorage, AK 99502-0650 Attention: Dan Roth Subject: Lot 14B, U.S. Survey 3200 Revised Septic System Cross Section Dear Dan: On May 2, 1995, I measured the water levels in the monitor tubes on Lot 14B, U.S. Survey 3200. The groundwater level was found at 9.5' below the ground surface which is probably the high water level for the year. Testholes were originally dug on May 28, 1994, and monitored the remainder of the year with no groundwater noted. The water found at this time is probably a direct result of the heavy snowfall during the past winter and the ongoing breakup and runoff period. The absorption trench has been redesigned to compensate for a high water level of -9' which is 6" higher than that measured yesterday. The attached detail defines the new design. The absorption trench is proposed for placement in a Iow area which, when filled in, will provide nearly 2' of cover above original ground. The additional cover coupled with the placement of direct burial insulation should provide sufficient protection to the absorption trench from freezing. One of the conditions to plat was to place a new septic system on Lot 14B. The current system falls within the 100' protective radius and must be disinfected and abandoned in place. The location of the new system and the alternate site are shown on the attached site plan. The topography of the lot is also shown on the plan and indicates a south to north slope of approximately 10%. Surface drainage will not be affected by placement of the new system. Soil conditions on the lot are good and will adequately support an onsite septic system. If the system is constructed as designed the following statements can be made: The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on the wells in the area or those to be constructed in the future. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on existing septic systems in the area or those to be constructed in the future. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on reserved space, either surface or subsurface, on any lots located in the area.
