Lambe, P.E. 2720 E. Lexington Circle September 2, 1980. Mr. Richard Kimball P.O. Box 1088 Anchorage, Alaska 99511 Anchorage, Alask~g9502 i 907-278-4113 Subject: Lot 86, Sec. 33, T.12N., R.3W., S.M. Dear Mr. Kimball: In response to your request, we logged the test pits that you excavated and performed percolation tests on Lot 86, Sec. 33, T.12N., R.3W., S.M. The locations and the results of these tests are presented on the attached standard Municipality of Anchorage forms. The tests were performed by our technician Mr. Roy McDonald. The shallow soils appear layered with very permeable soils. Underlying the layered shallow soils there exists a dense silty sandy gravel, probably glacial in origin. Two percola- tion tests were performed in the till with the results shown. No free water was observed in' either excavation, however the free water level may be expected to fluctuate Seasonally. No bedrock was observed. Mr. Kimball reported that the existing system on the property has been operating satiSfactorily for ten years for the present owners, and four years for previous owners. Mr. Richard Kimball September 2, 1980 Page Two The data indicates that conventional on-site sewer systems can probably be developed on the~property. The stratification of the soils is likely to be highly variable, so specific system design should be based on the conditions observed in the area of the absorption area, to maximize the use of the shallow permeable soils, although rigorously designed systems appear to be possible in the till. We trust the foregoing is sufficient to your immediate needs. Please call if you have any questions, or if we can be of further service. Very truly yours Lam~,/~ . E.
