SUBJECT: Lot 126A, Regan Subdivision Septic System Construction Permit Three testholes have been placed on the subject property to determine the location of the prima3' and reserve septic systems. None of the testholes indicated the presence of groundwater even though they were placed at the wettest periods of the year, notably late May and mid October. We are confident groundwater is not a problem on this lot. We are willing, however, to place another testhole during the construction phase to verify the lack of groundwater and the lack of bedrock. The new testhole will be placed near the location of the new absorption trench. Testhole data will be submitted with the septic system as built. Please make the placement of the testhole a condition of the septic system permit. This will not only save the cost of the testhole prior to placement of the absorption trench, but will also expedite the issuance of the permit. I have also revised the pemolation test data for the GW layer in Testhole No. 1. The data was mistakenly transferred from the field data and the net time column was erroneously duplicated as the net drop column. Subtracting the information shown in the depth to water column shows the net drop information to be incorrect. We apologize for this error. September 23, 1997 Municipality of Anchorage Department of Heath & Human Services 825 "L" Street Anchorage, AK 99502-0650 Subject: Lot 126A, Regan Subdivision Septic System Design Impacts to Adjacent Properties Dear On Site Services Engineer: We are hereby applying for a well and septic system permit for Lot 126A, Regan Subdivision. The attached Site Plan shows the area for the new and reserve absorption system and the location of the new well. The lot is currently vacant with construction expected to be completed this year. The testholes placed in the area of the proposed absorption trenches revealed well graded gravel with a percolation rate of 1 to 2 minutes per inch underlain by a silty gravel with a slower percolation rate of 27 minutes per inch. The absorption trench is designed for the slower percolation rate. No groundwater was found in the testholes and none was noted during the ensuing monitoring period. Testholes previously placed on the lot also show no groundwater. We are placing the primary absorption trench between the two testholes with the reserve site immediately behind and parallel to the primary site. The absorption trench will be 63' long by 3' wide by 8' effective depth. The distribution pipe will be placed at 3.5' below the surface. The maximum depth of the trench will be 11.5' below the ground surface. The ground surface of the lot slopes from the southeast to the northwest at a rate of 5% to 8%. The area where the trenches will be constructed is fairly fla. t and the trenches will be placed parallel to the ground contours in this area consistent with Municipal requirements.
