Ref: Proposed Septic System for Hansen Sand Lake Subdivision; Lot 6B,
To whom it may concern:
The proposed 4 bedroom house will be served by a private well and septic system. One test hole
was dug on the property. The drainfield will be designed around the 30 foot radius of the test
hole. We are proposing to install a new 1500 gallon S.T.E.P. tank and a deep trench type
drainfield. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows:
1. SOILS: See the attached log which shows the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring,
and the percolation test results. It is our opinion that due to the overall appearance of the soils, an
application rate of 1.2 gallons/day/A2 should be used. The insitu sands will serve as a sand filter.
2. TRENCH DESIGN:
a. Percolation Rate: <1 minutes/inch
b. Proposed Application Rate: L 2 gallons/day/ft2
c. Allowable Application Rate: 1 . 2 gallons/day/ft2
d. Number of Bedrooms: 4
e. Design Flow: 600 gallons per day
f. Minimum Absorption Area: 500 R2
g. Total Depth: 9 feet (max.)
h. Effective Depth: 7 feet
i. Width: 2.5 feet

3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface waters within 100+ feet of the proposed septic
system.
4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached design plan, the average topography in the
area of the proposed drainfield relatively flat. In short, there are no slope concerns.
5. LOT LINE WAIVER: We request a 5 feet lot line waiver to the north and east lot lines.
We are unaware of any adverse impacts with the granting of this waiver.

Approval (HAA) based only upon the representations given In paragraph 4 by an Independent professional civil
engineer registered In the State of Alaska. Certificates of Health Authority Approval are required for the transfer

water supply system. DSD also issues HAAs; upon request to homeowners. Certificates of Health Authority
Approval are valid for 90 days from the date of Issue for properties served by a private or Class C well and may
be reissued with new water samples. (Certificates may be reissued for a period of up to one year with valid water
samples.) Certificates are valid for one year for properties served by Class A or B wells or a public water system.
The Municipality of Anchorage Is not responsible for errors or omissions In the professional engineer's work.
