Mr. Glen A. fluff Contracting Engineers & Associates 1801 Stanton Avenue Anchorage, Alaska / $OUTHCENTRAL REGIONAL OFFICE MACKAY BLDG. 338 DENALI STREET ANCHORAGE 99501 WILLIAM A. £GAN, GOVERNOR SUBJBCT: Murray Subdivision, Blks I & J -Sewer System Dear Mr. Huff: We have comple, ted our review of the plans for the subject project and with the understanding that the conditions listed below are met, the plans and specifications for the project are approved for the features with which this department is concerned: 1) A drop type manhole will be required for manhole 3-B because of the height of the 8" line above the manhole invert. z) All stream crossings shall be constructed in such a manner as to cause no violation . of the Alaska Water Quality Standards. The~e crossings also must meet the requirements of the Alaska Dept. of Natural Resources, Water Resources Section and the Alaska Dept. of Fish & Game, Habitat Section. 5) As much of the proposed sewer line construction closely follows a tributary of Little Campbell Creek, we would at this time request you to advise the successful bidder that precautions must be taken to prevent the discharge of silt-laden water into this stream. Failure of the contractor to provide for treating the water pump from the sewer trench will result in a vigorous enforcement action by this department, if a violation of the Alaska Water Quality Standards is involved. Due to the classification of the stream it will be very difficult to pump the water from a trench into the stream directly without some type treatment and not cause a violation of the Water Quality Standards. Mr. Huff -2- November 22, 1972. If you have any question regarding the above, please feel free to contact me at your convenience.
