We are therefore requesting a permit be issued for the construction of a new well and septic system to accommodate the home. The attached Site Plan and backup documentation identify the location and configuration of the proposed well and septic system along with the alternate site. Also identified on the plans are the locations of the existing wells on adjacent lots in the subdivision. No conflicts exist between the proposed septic system and those on adjacent lots. Drainage arrows are shown indicating the surface slope of the property in the area of the new septic system. Test holes were placed on the lot in the area of the absorption trench and alternate site, which indicated a silty gravel with some sand (GM/SM) material.. The percolation rate of the materials was determined to be 5 to 49 minutes per inch. No groundwater was found during the placement of the test holes and none was noted during the monitoring period. An application rate of .45 gallons per day per square foot was used in the design of the absorption system. We are proposing to place a new 2,000 -gallon septic tank and 2-63' long by 3' wide by 8' effective depth absorption trenches to treat and dispose the effluent generated in the house. The elevation of the distribution line in the absorption trench will be 4' below the surface and the total depth will be 12'. A minimum of 3' of fill will be placed over the absorption trenches and 4' over the septic tank. A flow splitter valve will be installed to assure even flow to each trench. The ground surface on the lot in the area of the septic system slopes gently to the southeast. The new trenches will be constructed parallel with the slope as much as possible in conformance with Municipal requirements. The new septic system will be constructed a minimum of 100' from the proposed and existing wells and any surface Lot 6, Autumn Ridge October 23, 2005 Page Two water in the area. If the system is constructed in accordance with our design the following statements apply: The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on the wells in the area or those to be constructed in the future. 2. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on existing septic systems in the area or those to be constructed in the future. 3. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on reserve space, either surface or subsurface, on any lots located in the area. 4. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on drainage patterns in the area. The current drainage pattern will be maintained. Sincerely, -0 Ea L' Michael E. Anderson, P.E. Three soils logs were excavated on the property and logged by Michael E. Anderson, P.E. We are proposing that a 1500 gallon septic tank be installed and also a deep trench type drainfield be installed within the 30 foot radii of TH-14 & TH-15. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: I. SOILS: Attached are the logs which shows the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the percolation test results. It is our opinion that an application rate of 0.6 gallons/day/ft2 should be used. 2. TRENCH DESIGN: a. Percolation Rate: 49 & 5 minutes/inch b. Allowable Application Rate: 0.6 gallons/day/ft c. Number of Bedrooms: 5 d. Design Flow: 750 gallons per day e. Minimum Absorption Area: 1250 ft2 f. Total Depth: 12 feet (max.) g. Effective Depth: 8.5 feet h. Width: 2.5 feet i. Reduction Factor: N/A j. Minimum Length: 75 feet long k. Effective absorption area =1275 ft2 3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface waters within 100 feet of the proposed septic system. 6901 Debarr Road, Suite 2B * Anchorage, AK 99504 Ph: (907) 337-6179 * Fax: (907) 338-3246 * Website: akwwc.com 4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached topography site plan and design drawing, the proposed trench is to be installed in an area where there are no slope concerns. The trench is to be installed parallel to slope contours. I am unaware of any adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic systems. If you have any questions, please contact us at 337-6179. Thank you for your assistance. P.E., M.S. NOTE: Attached is a site plan drawing, a design drawing, a topography site plan, three soils logs, and a 7 page construction specification letter which are all part of the design package for this septic system. 6901 Debarr Road, Suite 2B * Anchorage, AK 99504 Ph: (907) 337-6179 * Fax: (907) 338-3246 * Website: akwwc.com OT 12 \ C HOE S/D \ 1 \ LOT 11 c t I I I ' COHOE S/DLOT I U WI COHOE S/D I?i LOT 1 O / COHOE S/D / Qi / LOT 2 COHOE S/D $ JJ LOT 9 3 i S/D i 4 S/D LOT 5 COHOE S/D LOT 11 AUTUMN RIDGE QR \ LOT 4 \ AUTUMN RIDGE 010 TH027 LOT 5 v AUTUMN RIDGE PROPOSED / tti-120 5 BEDROOM COHOE S/D PROPOSED SEPTIC SYSTEM 0TH -13 ---^----I LAT 8 (SEE DESIGN, 11 L-..
