The septic system was installed 2003 and the owners would like to construct the new house where the tank currently exists. The tank will be moved 20 feet to the northwest, see the site plan. All of the surrounding properties are serviced by community water, no wells existing with 300 plus feet of the proposed lot. No cut -banks or slopes greater than 25 percent exist with 200 feet of the proposed tank location. This tank relocation will not impact the any of the neighboring lots. A test hole was excavated on the property in the area of the proposed drainfield. The drainfield will be designed around the 30 foot radius of this test hole. We are proposing to install a 1250 gallon septic tank and a 5 -wide type drainfield. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: See the attached logs which shows the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the percolation test results. It is our opinion that the SP material below 12 feet will act as a sand filter and that an application rate of 1.2 gallons/day/ft2 should be used. 2. TRENCH DESIGN: a. Percolation Rate: <1 minutes/inch b. Proposed Application Rate: 1.2 gallons/day/ft2 c. Number of Bedrooms: 4 d. Design Flow: 600 gallons per day e. Minimum Absorption Area: 500 ft2 f. Total Depth: 10 feet (max.) g. Effective Depth: 4 h. Width: 5 feet i. Reduction Factor: 0.5 j. Minimum Length: 50 feet long k Effective absorption area = 500 ft2 3. TOPOGRAPHY: The area for the proposed drainfield is relatively flat; in short, there are no slope concerns.
