Dear' Mr. Stricktand:
This letter if being written as a resuti- of a visit from Mr.
George Hol'l', who was directed 1o this office by ~he Dept. of Environ-
mental Oualily lo seek a waiver regarding the distance to his well
which serves dwellings located on The subject properties. The in-
formation we received from Mr. Flolt was that the well was approxlmal'ely
220 ft. deep, located uphill from the waste disposal systems and has
served satisfacl'orily up to the present. Mr. Holt stated That at the
present time his seepage pit was approximately 71! ft. from lhe well
and thai because of space l imital ions he cannot acl~ieve the 120 ft.
which was normalty required for a semi-publ ic Cl~ss A Well which lhis
would have been under the old requirements. He ~uriher sba'led that
he intended also 1-o construct a new system for the rental dwelling
located on 1be other lot which would be outside 1,he 120 ft, radius
easily.
We have no objeclion 1-o this seepage pit,going in I00 ft. from
lhe well and the septic tank going in 50 ft. from the well as this is
a deep well and the general slope of the land as ~indieated to us by
Mr. Hell would tend 1-o carry sewage away from the well. tn order to
gain as much distance as possible from the well we would requesi' thai
the normal distances to the property line be waived and thai the in-
stallation of the seepage pit be allowed as close lo the properYy line
as what you would feel comfortable wilh.
This leVter represents a waiver from l-he !requirements of 18 AAC
72.020 (c) (I). The fact 'l'hat these tots were subdivided well before
the implementalion of the Alaska Departmenl of Eqvironmental Conservation
Wastewater Regulalions was als() considered in our decision.
All other fealures of this project musl ~eet the requiremenls of
the WastewaVer Disposal Regulations and all Grea'l!er Anchorage Area Borough
Regulations.
